Background[ | ]

The Karabiner 98 Kurz (German for Carbine 98 short) or K98k is a weapon featured in Post Scriptum. The K98k entered service in 1935, considered as the standard issue service rifle and remained in service, despite the newer semi and fully automatic rifles, until the end of the war in 1945. There were more than 14,600,000 rifles produced in the span of 10 years.

Strategy[ | ]

Being a bolt action rifle it is best used for medium to long range engagements as semi and fully automatic weapons are more effective in close combat. However, the K98k has the ability to equip a bayonet should the need for melee combat arise. It is a very accurate rifle, that can also be equipped with a magnification scope for the Marksman class that makes it deadly in long engagements. Keep in mind, however, that it is a bolt-action rifle and moving targets will pose a challenge, as you will have to bolt the action of the rifle to get a new round in the chamber.
